ANSWERS: HEBREWS 7, VBCBI

1. 5:1-3 to have compassion for other men

2. 5:2 no

3. 5:6 Psalm 110:4

4. 5:6 (1) the Law would end, (2) Messiah will not be from Israel

5. 5:7 strong crying, tears

6. 5:8-10 to have empathy (understand) humanity

7. 5:10-11 Melchizedek

8. 5:12-14 they are not ready, spiritual babies

9. 6:1-3 Ready or not, I will discuss Melchizedek

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

6d:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

10. 6:4-6 No. If a truly born-again person could indeed fall from grace, it would be impossible to renew him BY ANY MEANS because such a renewal would require Christ to be crucified again (which is impossible).

11. 6:4-6 No. The question is not discussed in the context. Again, they teach that it is impossible to fall from grace and then be restored BY ANY MEANS — not by repentance, sacrifice or confession because such restoration would mean that Christ would have to be crucified again.

12. 6:4-6 No, yet Catholics do it daily with mass.

13. 6:4-6 If “if they fall away” only reefers to falling from fellowship, the consequence is certain discipline.

Note: What does Hebrews 6:4-6 teach? (1) If Jewish Christians in Jerusalem fail to mature spiritually (go on unto perfection; 6:1) and (2) cling to the O. T. system of priests (chap 5), Old Covenant (chap 8), sacrificial system (chap 9) and (3) “fall away” from the truths being taught in chapter 5-9 (6:6), (6) THEN there is no way to “renew” them to fellowship because (6) Christ cannot be crucified again and (7) their continued honoring of O. T. priests (chap 5), the O. T. high priest (chap 5-7), the Old Covenant laws (chap 8) and the sacrificial system (chap 9) is worthless. The “bridge is out” for the O. T. system and Christ is the permanent new route.

14. 6:7-9 no

15. 6:13-20 all believers

16. 7 all; to prove that Christ’s priesthood is superior to Aaron’s priesthood and is for all

17. 7:1-18 tithing

18. 7:1-2 no; only by interpretation of His name

19. 7:3 eternal; no record of (spiritual) birth, lineage or death

20. 7:4-10 Abraham and Levi paid tithes to Melchizedek

21. 7:5 the “first use” principle of Scripture

22. 7:13-14 the law would end because it was not administered by Judah; Gen 49:10

23. 7:15-19 the law would end because Melchizedek was not an Israelite

24. 7:18 tithing from 7:5

25. 7:21 he was a king-priest (Israel had none)
